Frequently Asked Questions

What happened to the program? Due to COVID-19-related difficulties, the program was paused on September 1, 2020. As the pandemic progressed, we saw many changes to modes of learning in Austin and across the country. There is such a broad availability of educational opportunities available now that we decided to close the program permanently.

Are classes for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) available through any other local programs? Yes. Online programs are being offered through Joshua’s Stage. Jon Pierce, the Program Coordinator, is available to answer questions for new students and their families via email at or cell phone 512-529-9331.

Are there still Adobe courses available? Greg Hervey, who taught with Informal Classes from 2011 until 2020, launched a self-paced online course with the Center for Professional Education. Introduction to Graphic Design is a combination of the Adobe courses Greg taught in the past for the Informal Classes program.
