The Silent Killer That Swept Away Empires And Created New Ones

In 1977, American newspapers reported the CIA was behind a swine flu epidemic that swept across Cuba and threatened the country's food supply. If you want to learn how other diseases overthrew governments and changed the course of history, this class is for you! Few people suspect the dramatic role pathogens played in the fall of the Roman empire, the decimation of Chinese civilization, the conquest of the Americas, and the destruction of the Egyptian Mamluks. This class will explain how disease led masters to prefer Caucasian indentured servants in New England, and African slaves in southern colonies.
