Introduction to Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS)

Have you ever wondered how databases work? And have you ever wanted to learn about how to maintain or administer a database? If so, this class is for you.

A relational database management system (RDBMS) is a software program that allows you to create, update and administer a relational database.

You will learn the fundamentals of relational database management systems (RDBMS) with a primary focus on MS SQL Server.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this class, you will have learned:

  • The different terminologies around relational database management systems
  • The different components of a database and their functions
  • How to manage or administer a database

Prerequisites & Preparation

No prerequisite knowledge required. It is highly recommended to take Introduction to SQL and Introduction to Relational Database Design before taking this class. This class will build upon the other two classes.

Course Materials

A personal Windows laptop is required (a 64 bit with windows 10 is highly recommended). A Mac computer will also be sufficient if you do not have a windows computer.
