Creativity: Accessing Inspiration in Creative Writing

If you love to write creatively but struggle with finding the time, motivation and perseverance to complete projects, you are not alone! All of us were born with a natural desire to create, but our adult lifestyles can sap much of the joy, freedom and lightness from our early impulses.

Get back in in touch with your creative headspace by exploring both the barriers to creativity and the strategies that help you re-connect with your passion for writing. Each class touches on a particular barrier to creativity and offers concrete strategies to address it. We then dive into writing, reading and discussing a short piece of fiction or poetry before enjoying meditative time to write.

This class is ideal for poets and fiction writers who want to get back in touch with their writing practice. It's also a great course for writers in the midst of working on longer projects for which they're having trouble sustaining momentum.

Jaime deBlanc-Knowles

Jaime deBlanc-Knowles holds an M.A. in creative writing from the University of Texas at Austin. Her work has been published in Post Road and Meridian, and she is currently working on her second novel.

"Jaime had an amazing ability to impart confidence that we could do whatever writing assignments she gave us. She taught according to the course description, above what I could have expected, but also gave incredible feedback towards helping us improve in every other area of writing. I will be looking for every opportunity to continue to take her classes."  - Billy S, summer 2018 student

"Her teaching skills, organization, how she motivated students and lead us, sharing her experience on point. She has a lot of great tips to follow that I seriously will take in consideration, the class was all about sharing knowledge, examples and great moments."  - Norma T, fall 2018 student

This class requires all participants to complete and sign a university Release and Indemnification Agreement before being considered enrolled in the class. Bring the completed form to the first class meeting and turn in to your instructor.
