Advancing Your Photography Skills

This lecture-based course moves quickly through an expansive curriculum of photographic techniques, history and theory. Intermediate photographers with previous experience shooting film or digital cameras will find the first part of this course a welcome refresher on the fundamentals of manual exposure. As the course proceeds, we will master control over shutter speed, aperture, ISO, fill flash, white balance, color space, focal length and depth of field. We will then look at examples of great photography to develop sensibilities about which techniques are appropriate for which situations. The course will also include practical tips about caring for your camera equipment and archiving your digital photographs safely.
