We Are Pausing Informal Classes
Since 1971, Informal Classes has been a place for the Austin community to learn, build relationships and have fun. While the program is on hiatus due to the COVID-19 crisis, TEXAS Extended Campus recognizes the importance of the educational opportunities this program has offered and looks forward to offering courses to the Austin community in the future.

An Austin Tradition Since 1971
Though Informal Classes has changed over the years, its mission has been consistent: to open UT Austin's doors to the greater Austin community. The most recent change - taking classes online while our country deals with the coronavirus pandemic - has allowed us to broaden our community as far out as Mexico City!
While our full catalog is not making the transition to online, we are planning to release new online courses each month through the summer. Things are changing, but we are still dedicated to providing fun, informative classes to the Austin community - and beyond.
Supporting Local Businesses
Since it was established nearly 50 years ago, Informal Classes has been a place for local experts and entrepreneurs to share their knowledge and skills with the community. We are proud to be able to continue collaborating with Austin's creatives and small business owners to bring Informal Classes to you.
"I was drawn to UT Informal Classes because it provides a highly-accessible bridge between UT Austin and the wider community. Austin's vibrant community of artists, entrepreneurs and intellectuals creates an exciting platform for an engaging program, whether you are seeking new ways to express yourself creatively, reigniting your passion for a forgotten hobby or exploring a new technical skill set."
